Linda Flores Testimonial

Activity Directors Network is, without question, the common denominator for all persons interested in becoming a certified Activity Director. The professional instructors and staff are an ever-present resource for guidance and help in understanding this field of work and its dynamics. Online education requires constant consultation via the internet or telephone. My experience with this organization has been nothing but positive. Every question or concern of mine has been answered in a timely manner with genuine interest and friendly attitude. My professional experience, from classroom teacher to community public relations, has served me well, but I am excited to be affiliated with such a knowledgeable organization that puts the quality care of the individuals at the top of the list. Putting smiles on patients' faces...though they may not remember it at end of day....I will remember it!

Thank you Activity Directors Network, for the opportunity to learn how to make that difference!

3 Steps to Become Certified in Texas:
  • Complete the "Basic Education Course for Nursing Home Activity Directors" - $500.00
  • Complete the "Advanced Management Course for Nursing Home Activity Directors" - $550.00
  • Contact CTRACTX.org to show completion of the Basic and Advanced Courses listed above. You will then need to apply with CTRACTX.org in order to take the certification exam.
  • Course Overview:

The purpose of this course is to apply management science principles to the delivery of activity services to systematically build a foundation of administrative and supervisory skills. A continuous overview process of assessments, activity programming, governmental regulations and documentation requirements for activity professionals working in a long-term care setting.

16 Week Course - 96 Hours of Coursework and 96+ Hours Practicum (approx. 6 hours per week).
Practicum hours must be completed during course enrollment under a certified Activity Director.

Weekly Chats - Each week, the instructor will host a chat to cover any questions or concerns that any student may have. These chats are mandatory and all students must participate.

Assignments - Assignments will vary from week to week depending on the resource material for that particular week. There are three types of assignments:

  • Written Assignments -  Must be completed and turned into the instructor by the end of the week.
  • Notebook Assignments - Upon enrollment, you will receive a Notebook Assignment Packet which will be worked on throughout the 16 week period. Once completed, the packet will contain several different types of activities that you have created. Each student will share their packet with all of the students enrolled in the course so everyone will have plenty of activity ideas when it comes time to put them to use.
  • Fieldwork Assignments - Must be completed in a facility of your choice under the supervision of a certified Activity Director.
  • Upon completion of this course the student will be considered a "Certified" Activity Director. The student will then be able to apply for certification through the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation and Activities Certification (CTRACtx.org).
