Course Overview:
The purpose of this course is to apply
management science principles to the delivery of activity services to
systematically build a foundation of administrative and supervisory skills.
A continuous overview process of assessments, activity programming,
governmental regulations and documentation requirements for activity
professionals working in a long-term care setting.
16 Week Course -
96 Hours of Coursework and 96+ Hours Practicum
(approx. 6 hours per week).
Practicum hours must be completed during course enrollment under a certified
Activity Director.
Weekly Chats -
Each week, the instructor will host a chat to cover any questions or
concerns that any student may have. These chats are mandatory and all
students must participate.
Assignments -
Assignments will vary from week to week depending on the resource material
for that particular week. There are three types of assignments:
Written
Assignments - Must be completed and turned into the instructor by the
end of the week.
Notebook
Assignments - Upon enrollment, you will receive a Notebook
Assignment Packet which will be worked on throughout the 16 week period.
Once completed, the packet will contain several different types of
activities that you have created. Each student will share their packet
with all of the students enrolled in the course so everyone will have
plenty of activity ideas when it comes time to put them to use.
Fieldwork
Assignments - Must be completed in a facility of your choice
under the supervision of a certified Activity Director.
Upon completion of this course the
student will be considered a "Qualified" Activity Director. Consortium for
